Start planning now to join the 2025 STARTALK Summer Chinese Day Program at Wofford College: An Exchange Experience in Fast-Growing China. Students will develop functional Chinese language skills by learning to accomplish real-world communicative tasks. Through these tasks, they will also develop cross-cultural communication skills to effectively engage with Chinese people during travel or in the workplace, and they will gain an understanding of the fast-growing China, including its technological advancements.
STARTALK @ Wofford will continue to offer a completely free-of-charge program. Tuition, learning materials and lunches will be covered. A limited amount of room and board will be available for nonlocal college students with demonstrated financial need. Upon completion of our rigorous curriculum, participants will receive a Wofford College transcript with a grade for four credits of Chinese coursework, which is transferable to college Chinese studies.
While STARTALK @ Wofford is free, students must be passionate, motivated and have demonstrated academic excellence. Our 2025 program will accept 30 participants enrolled in high school and college during the 2024-25 academic year who are eager to learn Chinese language and culture. Priority will be given to those who plan to continue with Chinese studies in hopes that they will become global citizens with cross-cultural competence prepared to succeed in the 21st century.
