Sam Alford '19

International Affairs and Chinese Double Major

Sam spent the Summer and Fall of 2017 studying abroad in China. Sam says that his experience in International Affairs, specifically with Dr. Farrenkopf’s China course, provided him with the context to understand Chinese nationalism and the Sino-American relationship. Sam says that this understanding helped him overcome cultural differences and have productive conversations with his Chinese host family.

Meghan McCully '19

Government Major

In addition to participating in Wofford’s Capital Hill Internship Program during her Sophomore year, Meghan has interned with Senator Scott while he was on the campaign trail. Meghan is currently interning in the House of Commons during her semester abroad in London, and has been a part of the Prime Minister’s Question Time. She has also worked to incorporate technology into the National Healthcare System. In the future she hopes to continue her career in a Senate or House office.

International Affairs and Spanish Double Major, Arabic Minor

Victoria was Wofford’s 2017 Presidential Scholar, chosen for her dedication to service learning and intellectual curiosity. Victoria centered her Presidential Scholar research around the role that languages play in social movements, combining her International Affairs and Spanish majors. During her project, she studied social movements in South Africa, Peru, and Morocco.
