For Students
Students, register now for Fall 2025 community-based (CB) classes!
We designate courses as “CB” for several reasons, but primarily to help students understand the nature of them. To carry the designation, a course needs to meet all four of the criteria:
- Include field-based experiential learning with community partners as an instructional strategy
- Give students direct experience with issues they are studying in the curriculum and with ongoing efforts to analyze and solve problems in the community
- Give students the opportunity both to apply what they are learning in real-world settings and to reflect in a classroom setting on their community-based experiences
- Model the idea that working collaboratively with diverse others to address an issue or promote the public good is an important college outcome and good preparation for citizenship, work, and life.
Fall 2025 CB courses are:
- ANTH 206: Urban Anthropology (Handelsman)
- ANTH 305: Building Sustainable Communities (Handelsman)
- PSY 340: Adult Development & Aging (Bopp)
- SPAN 303: Advanced Spanish with Community-Based Learning (all sections)
