SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Dr. David S. Wood, provost of Wofford College, has been named the college’s senior vice president for development, effective July 1, 2014, President Nayef H. Samhat announced today.

Dr. Dennis M. Wiseman, dean of the Center for Innovation and Learning and the Reeves Family Professor of Foreign Languages, will serve as interim provost, effective July 1, until the college conducts and completes a national search for a new chief academic officer.

“Dr. Wood brings a wealth of experience to the Office of Development that will enhance our profile with alumni, donors and friends of the college and our ability to continue the college’s upward momentum,” Samhat says. “His relationships, and our relationship, provide a strong foundation for success in securing Wofford’s future.”

In 2001, he became senior vice president, and in 2007, he was named dean of the college. He was named provost in 2013. Before coming to Wofford, Wood was provost at Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tenn. He is a graduate of Elon University.
