SPARTANBURG, S.C. — When Anna Aguillard graduated from Wofford College in May, she knew exactly where she was going — Birmingham, Ala.

The English and government major from Baton Rouge, La., had a yearlong editorial fellowship with Southern Living magazine lined up and waiting. Now she's published her first post — "Our Favorite Father's Day Quotes" — on the Daily South, "Your Hub for Southern Culture," and she couldn't be happier.

"I've basically gone straight from a classroom to a cubicle, but jumping right into my dream career has allowed me to put all the communication skills I learned while at Wofford into practice immediately," says Aguillard. "It's really a small start, but I'm excited to keep writing for Southern Living. I've got plenty to learn."

Aguillard believes Wofford gave her lots of opportunities to prepare for life after graduation. She served as president of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, worked in the college's Writing Center and was a senior writer for the Old Gold and Black student newspaper. She was vice president of the Hardin Pre-Law Society and completed internships with a law firm, a travel and tour company, and a newspaper, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in both of her majors.
