Frequently Asked Questions

Wofford offers majors in Chinese, French, German, and Spanish. Each major prepares you to interact with the modern world where that language is spoken.

Foundational courses in each language focus on speaking, reading, and writing the language. As you grow more proficient in your chosen language, courses expose you to the varied culture, history, literature, drama, and film of the areas of the world that speak the language you study. Courses at and above the 300-level are conducted in the language being studied.

All Wofford students who are modern language majors are expected to study abroad for at least one semester in a country where the language they are studying is spoken in order to get first-hand experience with a new culture and to encourage fluency.
