Vision and Mission

Vision:

The Center for Community-Based Learning (CCBL) is a hub for civic-minded* learners, scholars, practitioners, and community members who think and work together to analyze and address pressing social, educational, and environmental challenges. We collaboratively design, create, and sustain strategic initiatives that yield both transformative learning and positive community impact.

Mission:

In collaboration with community and campus partners, Wofford’s Center for Community-Based Learning (CCBL) engages students with ongoing efforts to analyze and address social, educational, and environmental challenges to improve the quality of people’s lives and the sustainability of the planet.

Through community-engaged service, research, social action, community-building, and reflection, students learn deeply about themselves and the world, gain skills as changemakers and leaders, and develop their sense of meaning and purpose – all of which helps fulfill Wofford’s mission of preparing students for extraordinary and positive contributions to a global society.

*Civic-minded people have, demonstrate, and act on their sense of concern for the condition and affairs of their communities.
