On Aug. 11, Dr. B.G. Stephens ’57 stood on the restored Glendale Shoals Bridge and thanked the people and organizations that worked to bring the old Pratt truss-style bridge back to full beauty and function. The truth is, the project would never have been completed without Stephens, whose determination to rehabilitate the structure knew no bounds.

The bridge, which was last used for vehicle traffic in 1977, now has lanes for walkers and bicyclists. It spans the dam at Glendale Shoals, adjacent to Wofford’s Goodall Environmental Studies Center. According to Stephens, the bridge has a rich history and now a bright future as well.
