The Coleman B. Waller Chemistry Senior Award is presented in memory of Dr. Waller, who graduated from Wofford in 1892. After earning his doctorate from Vanderbilt University in 1903, he returned to Wofford to teach biology and chemistry and was elected to chair the sciences. He retired in 1947 but continued to teach at Spartanburg Methodist College until his death in 1957.
