We evaluate every applicant for merit-based scholarships upon receiving their Common Application.

Scholarships range from $15,000 to $25,000 per year and are renewable for up to three years after your first year, if eligibility requirements defined in the student’s financial aid award letter are met. These awards are based on academic merit, leadership and service to the community.

Wofford College is proud to partner with the Citizen Scholars Program by offering scholarship dollars to scholars who decide to attend Wofford. Citizen Scholars who qualify as Palmetto Fellow Scholarship recipients will receive $25,000 per academic year – $100,000 over four years – from Wofford. Wofford will offer $20,000 a year in scholarship money – $80,000 over a student’s four years at the college to Citizen Scholars who qualify as Life Scholarship recipients through the S.C. Lottery Scholarship Fund. There is no additional application required for consideration.

At Wofford, we believe that every student should have access to an affordable college education. To encourage all students, regardless of family background, to continue their education, we offer 15 First Generation merit scholarships, valued at $25,000 per year, to be awarded to students who represent the first generation in their family to attend college.

A first-generation college student is defined as a student whose parents did not complete a bachelor’s degree. Or, in the case of a single parent household, the individual parent did not complete a bachelor’s degree. There is no additional application required for consideration. Admitted students who meet these criteria are considered on a competitive basis, based on their application for admission.

Scholarships range from $27,000 to $30,000 per year and are renewable for up to three years after your first year, if eligibility requirements defined in the student’s financial aid award letter are met. These awards are based on academic merit, leadership, and service to the community.

The Palmetto Boys’ State Scholarship is awarded to at least one entering freshman each year. This award is worth $100,000 and is payable at $25,000 per year and is renewable for three years. All graduates of Palmetto Boys’ State who are accepted for admission will be considered. The application for admission will be used to select the recipients. There is no additional application required for consideration.

The Palmetto Girls’ State Scholarship is awarded to at least one entering freshman each year. This award is worth $100,000 and is payable at $25,000 per year and is renewable for three years. All graduates of Palmetto Girls’ State who are accepted for admission will be considered. The application for admission will be used to select the recipients. There is no additional application required for consideration.

Tuition Exchange (TE) is a program whereby students who plan to attend Wofford, and whose parents are employed by other participating colleges and universities, may apply to be considered for a waiver of tuition (Tuition Exchange Scholarship). The “home” or “exporting” school will determine the eligibility of the parent to participate in the Tuition Exchange Program and will submit the online certification/application on behalf of the eligible student. Because of the large number of prospective students who apply for admission to attend Wofford with this benefit, Wofford is limited in the number of awards it can extend to students based on budget allocations, TE slots available and the overall balance of “imports and exports.” The value of the TE scholarship award is tuition or the set rate (predetermined by the TE program annually).

A qualifying child may attend Wofford College with 100% tuition remission for their first undergraduate degree (maximum total of eight semesters, including summer school; 12 credits per term or 24 hours cumulative) if they independently meet the college’s academic qualifications for admittance and continue to meet eligibility.
