The recipient of the innovative Presidential International Scholarship is selected as a student “most likely to be of benefit to humankind.” The program, funded by an anonymous donor, involves five months of travel and independent study during the scholar’s senior year, returning for the spring semester. Laura Kate Gamble of Summerville, S.C., was named the 2013-14 Presidential International Scholar, in the 29th year of the program.
