SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College again is among the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review. The education services company features Wofford in the 2018 edition of its flagship college guide, “The Best 382 Colleges,” released this week.

Calling Wofford “a higher education dream,” The Princeton Review includes a two-page profile of the college, highlighting academics, campus life, attributes of the student body, admission and financial aid information. The profile is based primarily on surveys of students.

Wofford has been included in the annual prestigious best colleges guide since its inception in 1992.

“To be consistently recognized as one of the country’s best institutions of higher education certainly is an honor,” says Wofford President Nayef Samhat. “The Princeton Review selected Wofford for its outstanding academics, and its editors strongly recommend us to prospective students. It is a great stamp of approval from a highly respected college guide.”

The Wofford profile in the publication quotes students about the college’s “beautiful” campus and great “sense of community” as well as its “incredible financial aid. Students told the publication’s editors that Wofford’s rigorous academic program is “well worth it” considering graduates’ high acceptance rates into graduate schools. Students also “appreciate that classes tend to be ‘small,’ which promotes lots of ‘discussion … and endless opportunities.’”

The students surveyed praised faculty who are “so passionate about their (respective) fields and about teaching” and for their accessibility to students in and out of the classroom. “Wofford does a great job of cultivating a ‘vibrant and loving community,’” the guide quotes students as say.

Only about 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges, plus two colleges outside the U.S., are profiled in the book, one of The Princeton Review’s most popular guides. The guide’s profiles of “The Best 382 Colleges” can be found at www.princetonreview.com/best382.

Earlier this year, Wofford was recognized by The Princeton Review as one of the nation’s best colleges for providing an excellent education at an affordable price by including it in its publication “Colleges That Pay You Back: The 200 Schools that Give You the Best Bang for Your Tuition Buck.” The publisher said Wofford stands out “not only for (its) outstanding academics but also for (its) affordability via comparatively low sticker prices and/or generous financial aid to students with need – or both.”
