Wofford Employee Wellness Program (WEWP)
Participating in the Wofford Employee Wellness Program (WEWP) saves money and is designed to improve your health. It’s also convenient. All Wofford employees enrolled in health insurance through Wofford are automatically enrolled in the WEWP.
As of Jan. 1, an annual screening with the Wofford Wellness Center or a private provider in your BIRTHDAY MONTH is required for participation. This allows Wellness Center staff to do the screenings and get to know colleagues across campus in the way a family practice staff would. This screening must include demographics, medical history, risk factors, biometrics (height, weight, pulse and blood pressure) and labs (fasting glucose and lipid panel, which requires a blood draw). Employees will receive information about the screening in the month prior to their birthday month.
As we approach open enrollment beginning on Nov. 1, here are a few things to note about the WEWP.
Participation benefits include:
- $50 reduction in monthly insurance premium costs. (This discount was included in the health insurance update emailed on Oct. 27.)
- No copays or fees for tests or services in the Wofford Medical Clinic.
Note: This is just for employees. The benefit does not extend to families. Employees who do not elect to participate in the WEWP will pay the advertised monthly premium plus $50 according to their income tier and will be charged a $35 copay for an office visit to Wofford Medical Services.
Additional information
- One preventative visit or annual physical is covered each calendar year at no cost through an in-network provider (excluding urgent care, ER, Minute Clinic).
- A full physical can be scheduled through Wofford Medical Services if desired (in addition to or instead of the required screening).
- Additional labs are available upon request at no additional cost (through private provider or Wofford Medical Services).
- Employees who do not complete the annual enrollment requirements will be removed from the Wofford Employee Wellness Program at the conclusion of their birthday month, and the insurance premium will increase the following month.
- Those who are unable to complete the requirements by the end of their birthday month due to extenuating circumstances should contact the Wellness Center (wellnesscenter@wofford.edu) as soon as possible (before or during that month) to explore possible alternative time frames.
- New employees have 90 days to complete or submit proof of a physical. The following calendar year, the screening will fall in the birthday month time frame, as with other employees.
