Panhellenic Recruitment FAQs

What is a Gamma Chi?
After women register for Panhellenic Recruitment, they will be assigned a pair of Gamma Chis to help them through the recruitment process and answer questions. These are current sorority women who disaffiliate for the recruitment process and work with a group of PNMs through bid day. A small group of PNMs will be assigned two Gamma Chis who will help you through the process by meeting with you individually and with your gamma chi group. They are there to answer your questions and make the most of your recruitment experience.

How much does it cost to join a sorority at Wofford?
Sorority members pay dues each semester to support the local chapter, Panhellenic Council, and national organization. Below are the estimated new member dues for Spring 2024. Please note that most have higher new member fees that reduce to approximately $500 per semester in future semesters.

Estimated New Member Dues
Delta Delta Delta $896
Kappa Alpha Theta $579
Kappa Delta $927
Zeta Tau Alpha $735

Is there a minimum GPA I need to participate in Recruitment?
To participate in Recruitment, students must be "in good standing" with the College. You must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA and not be on academic probation or exclusion. Each organization then has minimum GPA requirements based on their national standards. Some organizations are able to make exceptions to their requirements, but these are guidelines to keep in mind as you're preparing for recruitment.

Chapter GPA Requirements
Delta Delta Delta 2.7
Kappa Alpha Theta 3.0
Kappa Delta 2.75
Zeta Tau Alpha 3.0

Are there scholarships for dues?
Most of our organizations offer payment plans for dues. Some also offer emergency financial assistance if there are changes to financial need/etc. There are some scholarship available at the national level from organizations and their governing bodies, but these are limited and typically go to upperclassmen in leadership positions across the country. It is important to note that we have a significant portion of our Panhellenic community who are working to pay for their own dues. Please talk with your Gamma Chi if you would like to hear how they make this work for them.

Do I need letters of recommendation for Recruitment?
Many organizations used to require PNMs to have letters of recommendation written on their behalf for recruitment. This is no longer a requirement. You do not need to submit letters of recommendation to participate in Recruitment and you will not be impacted by not having any. If you have an alumna who wants to submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf, they may do so through their national organization website.

What if I can't attend one of the events?
Once you've registered, let your Gamma Chi know which event you have to miss. She will send you a Recruitment absence form to complete. If at all possible, we ask you to be in attendance for all rounds.

If you have any additional questions about recruitment or the sorority membership experience, contact the Panhellenic VP of Recruitment or the Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life.
