Presidential International Scholar to be named; students to receive awards
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College President Benjamin B. Dunlap will name the 24th Presidential International Scholar and departmental awards and other special recognitions will be given at the annual Honors Convocation on Tuesday, May 6.
The 11 a.m. convocation will be held in Leonard Auditorium in Main Building; it is free and open to the public.
Vanessa Lauber, Greenville S.C., the 23rd Presidential International Scholars who traveled throughout the 2007-08 academic year, will be on hand for the naming of the new scholar.
The Presidential International Scholar is chosen personally each year by Wofford’s president as “the singular student best fitted to benefit humankind.” An anonymous donor funds the scholarship. The scholar spends his or her senior year visiting developing countries around the world and conducting research on an independent study project, returning for a fifth year to complete regular coursework and sharing what was learned during the travels.
