Revels named chair of Wofford history department

undefinedSPARTANBURG, S.C. – Dr. Tracy J. Revels, associate professor of history at Wofford College, has been named chair of the department.
Revels is the author of the book “Grander in Her Daughters: Florida’s Women During the Civil War,” which received the Rembert Patrick Award as the best scholarly book on Florida history published in 2005.

She received her bachelor of arts degree, master’s degree and Ph.D. from Florida State University.  Revels also is the author of “Watery Eden: A History of Wakulla Springs,” published in 2002, and has written numerous articles for historical publications.  She is an active member of "The Survivors of the Gloria Scott," a Sherlock Holmes society in Greenville, S.C.

Revels replaces Dr. Phil Racine, William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of History, as chair of the department.  Racine had served as chair since 1996.
