Visiting Professor to Lecture on 'Working Women in Old South'

SPARTANBURG, SC—The Wofford College Visiting Lewis P. Jones Professor of History, Susanna Delfino, will lecture on Tuesday, March 11, about her recent publication, “Neither Lady nor Slave: Working Women in the Old South.” The 4 p.m. lecture will be held in the Olin Teaching Theater and is free and open to the public.

Delfino, a senior researcher and professor of history and institutions of the Americas at the University of Genoa, Italy, will be joined by her co-author, Dr. Michele Gillespie, associate professor of history at Wake Forest University.

Delfino received her education at the University of Genoa, and Gillespie received her undergraduate degree and her PhD at Princeton University. Both have published extensively in the areas of American labor, Southern and women’s history.
