Wofford Plans 'Service of Remembrance' Wednesday

Tuesday, September 10, 2002

SPARTANBURG, SC--A "Service of Remembrance" will be held for the Wofford College campus community and friends on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 5 p.m.

The program will include the Wofford Singers; an invocation and remarks by the Campus Union president, Robert Goings; remarks by President Benjamin Dunlap; a reading by professor Deno Trakas of his poem "Dust," written about Sept. 11; and a moment of silence.

Earlier in the day, Wofford will participate with the City of Spartanburg, other local colleges and area churches in tolling our bells at 10:29 a.m., the time of the collapse of the second World Trade Center tower. The bells will toll for five minutes. Wherever you are in downtown Spartanburg at that time, you should be able to hear bells.
