Wofford Greeks celebrate successful Special Olympics fundraiser

Fraternities and sororities unite to create positive impact

SPARTANBURG, S.C.– The Wofford College Greek community raised more than $10,000 during their annual Greek Week celebration March 18-23, with proceeds to be donated to the Spartanburg Special Olympics chapter.

Funds were generated through a week-long penny wars competition between Greek chapters as well as admission to the annual fraternity cook-off and lip sync dance performance contest.

Each year during the college’s Greek Week, fraternity men and sorority women display their commitment to service by hosting the annual Special Olympics dance on campus featuring upbeat music, lawn games, sidewalk chalk art and lunch for the athletes.

This year, more than 400 fraternity and sorority members spent time at the event with the athletes who will be directly impacted by the funds raised during the week for Special Olympics.

Wofford has six Interfraternity Council fraternities, four Panhellinic Council of Wofford sororities, and three National Pan-Hellenic fraternities and sororities.
