The Music Department offers applied music lessons in voice, piano, woodwinds, strings, guitar and other instruments depending on student interest. All students—including beginners—are welcome to enroll in private instruction, contingent on instructor availability.
An applied music fee of $350 is charged to students for each semester of study. Students receive thirteen 45-minute lessons each semester. Lesson times will be scheduled with the instructor by email.
Private instruction is offered at three levels: MUSC 160, 260, and 360. Students should begin with MUSC 160 and progress through the sequence by successfully completing two semesters at each level before advancing. Instructor approval and a registration override are required for MUSC 260 and 360.
Beginning piano students should enroll in Class Piano I and II (MUSC 261 and 262) rather than private instruction.
