Washington Fellows

About

This program offers a unique opportunity for Wofford students to acquire professional experience as well as extensive expertise in the realm of public administration and public policy. In partnership with The Fund for American Studies, our students will participate in an eight-week academic internship experience in Washington, D.C. The program includes academic courses for credit (through George Mason University), internships, housing, site briefings, guest lectures, a professional development series and mentorship program. In addition to the eight-week program during the summer, Wofford students accepted to this program will enroll in a one-credit spring semester course prior to their summer internship where they will begin to prepare a research project relevant to the work of their internship placement. They will also participate in a series of seminars/talks on public policy and administration with experts from D.C. Finally, fellows will receive a stipend of $2,000 to cover travel and out-of-pocket expenses incurred during the summer program.

Students selected for this program (“Fellows”) apply into a highly selective application process. Applications must be submitted by Nov. 15 and will be reviewed by a selection committee. All applicants will be informed of their acceptance by Dec. 1. Participants in the Washington Fellows Program will be required to register for a one-credit internship course during the spring semester before their summer internship.
