This policy applies to students who withdraw from semester and year-long programs offered by Wofford College’s Office of International Programs, including programs sponsored by partner organizations. For information about Wofford’s refund policy for on-campus enrollment, please see here.
To cancel participation in an off-campus study program, students must inform the Office of International Programs by email. The effective date of the withdrawal will be based upon the Office of International Programs’ acknowledged receipt of this correspondence.
Students who withdraw more than 60 days prior to the off-campus program’s start date will be responsible for the program’s non-refundable deposit, as well as any study abroad stipends or study abroad grants issued by the college.
Students who withdraw within 60 days prior to the off-campus program’s start date will be charged a cancellation fee for costs Wofford has already incurred. Additionally, any financial benefit such as study abroad stipends or study abroad grants must also be repaid to the college. Students who choose to return to Wofford will be billed Wofford fees, with the cancellation fee added to their charges for on-campus enrollment.
Students who withdraw after the off-campus study program begins may be responsible for the full off-campus study fee. Withdrawing after the program begins may impact the student’s financial aid. Students must contact the Office of Financial Aid to discuss the implications of their withdrawal.
It is recommended that students inquire about and exhaust any opportunity to appeal any financial penalties related to their withdrawal directly with the sponsoring study abroad organization.
Wofford College and partner organizations are not responsible for indirect costs or fees that have been paid directly by the student; such costs may include (but are not limited to) airfare, passport or visa fees, vaccinations, and deposits.
