Interim Study Abroad Programs – How to Apply

  1. View available interim study abroad programs and fees.
  2. Apply online via the interim study abroad application portal. To access the application, select your preferred program and click “Apply Now” to begin your online application. Students wishing to commit to one Interim Study Abroad program should submit the interim study abroad program application (faculty recommendation included) no later than 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026. There is no cost to apply! Please note that students are only permitted to have one active program application in the system.
  3. Await application status change. Program sponsors consider applications for admission to their program in alignment with the program’s selection criteria. The priority consideration deadline is Thursday, April 30, 2026. Students will be notified of their application status by Wednesday, May 6, 2026. After May 6, completed applications will be considered on a rolling basis as space remains available for each program or until the final application deadline on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
    • Admitted students do not need to take any additional action to confirm their participation in the program, though they will have post-acceptance requirements to complete in the application system.
    • Those not selected to participate in their first-choice program may choose to remain on the program's waitlist or transfer their application materials to be considered for admission to an alternate program with available space. See below for more details about the waitlist process.
  4. Registration. The Office of International Programs will register students for the appropriate Interim Study Abroad program.

Interim Study Abroad Waitlist Process

Some interim study abroad programs are very popular and may fill quickly. If a program reaches capacity, a waitlist will be created for additional qualified applicants. Here’s what to expect:

  • Being waitlisted means the program is currently full, but your application has been reviewed and approved by the faculty leaders in case a space becomes available.
  • If a space becomes available, the next student on the waitlist will be admitted. The waitlist remains active until programs officially close on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
  • Only students with complete applications and who meet the selection criteria are eligible to be waitlisted.
  • Please note that being on the waitlist does not guarantee admission as it is possible that a spot may not become available.

If you are waitlisted, you may

  • Stay on the waitlist and complete the additional materials in your application, OR
  • Withdraw your application and/or apply to another program with availability. Please contact OIP with your newly chosen program and resubmit your statement of interest to complete the new application.

(Note: You may only have one active application at a time.

If you remain on the waitlist and space becomes available,

  • The next person on the waitlist will receive an email notification that your application status has changed to ‘approved. There is nothing else you need to do unless you are contacted by OIP or if you decide you no longer wish to participate.
  • If space becomes available after the final deadline of Sunday, September 13, 2026, students may be asked to confirm their interest before being admitted to help avoid withdrawal penalties. Students should regularly check their Wofford emails for prompt communication.

For any additional questions about the waitlist process, please contact the Office of International Programs (OIP).
