Graduates and Leaders

Cahill served as a Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Fellow, on the sustainability committee, as a Launch Scholar and on the executive board of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He says these diverse leadership experiences and the people he met along the way encouraged him to broaden his horizons, which is how he discovered the Master of International Relations program at Johns Hopkins University. He will spend a year in Nanjing, China, before returning to Washington, D.C., to complete the degree.

Chavez served as president of the Wofford French Club, co-chair of the Association of Multicultural Students and co-chair of the diversity, inclusion and anti-racism committee of Campus Union. She will be working after graduation and studying for the CPA exam.

DeArment served as Panhellenic president her senior year, welcoming two new sororities to the campus community: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Chi Omega. She has enrolled in Wake Forest University’s Master of Accounting program, with a concentration in audit. This summer she will be doing an internship with Grant Thornton.

Both Hannah and Rachel were leaders in their academic departments as well as within the Bonner Scholars program and in undergraduate research. Rachel plans to begin a master’s degree in library science with a concentration in archival studies. Hannah will be working in environmental education and health.

Scotland after graduation to begin a master’s degree in international security studies at the University of St. Andrews. At Wofford, he was the vice president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and a teaching assistant for the Spanish department. He also conducted research in Panama.

Gargano served on the Judicial Commission for three years and was president of the Newman Center Catholic student organization. She also held several leadership roles in Delta Delta Delta sorority. After graduation, she will move back home to teach math at her alma mater, Notre Dame High School.

Habart, who prefers to work behind the scenes, found herself leading the Wofford Women’s Health Coalition as president her senior year. She was a founding member and has worked this year on a sustainability plan for the organization. She’s also been a volunteer at St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic. Habart is taking a gap year to work in the pediatric cardiology unit of Vanderbilt University Hospital with Wofford trustee Dr. English Flack ’00. She’s also applying to medical school.

Johnson learned about leadership through internship experiences in the President’s Office and with the Office of Campus Events. She believes those customer-service facing roles will serve her well as she begins work with the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

Kowbeidu knew on her campus tour as a prospective student that she wanted to become Campus Union president. She was involved in Campus Union all four years at Wofford, most recently attaining her goal and serving as president of Campus Union. She’s presented to the Wofford College Board of Trustees and led her peers at the highest level. Kowbeidu will attend University of South Carolina School of Law in the fall.

Lockhart served as president of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, and he plans to look for leadership opportunities when he begins law school in the fall at the University of South Carolina.

Moore has served as the president of Alpha Alpha Alpha honor society for first-generation college students. She’s also Boss, Wofford’s mascot. After graduation, Moore will take a gap year to work with Team Rubicon, a nongovernment organization that deploys groups to support communities after natural disasters. She’s applying to medical school with the plan of becoming a pediatric surgical oncologist.

An Orientation leader for three years, secretary of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and Interfraternity Council vice president of risk management, Mueller will be attending the Medical University of South Carolina to begin a master’s degree in biomedical science.

A resident assistant, polemark for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. and vice president of Wofford Men of Color, Pendergrass is applying to law school.

Sinani was a leader on the soccer team, especially within the international soccer community. He also made a point to lead as an ambassador for Wofford soccer in the classroom and the community. Sinani will begin a Master of Financial Planning degree program in the fall at New York University.

Strauss came into Wofford with little leadership experience, but she knew she wanted to find ways to lead at Wofford. She became a peer writing tutor and became vice president of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She also enjoyed being a leader on Orientation staff. She continues to build her resume in marketing and communications while growing her lifestyle photography business.
