SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Wofford College was ranked the No. 1 college in South Carolina on the Wall Street Journal/College Pulse’s 2026 Best Colleges in the U.S. list.

Wofford also ranked among the top 25 liberal arts colleges in America according to the report released on Monday, Sept. 29.

The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse poll emphasizes how well a college prepares its students for financial success. It rewards the boost an institution provides to its graduates’ salaries beyond an estimate of what they could have expected from attending any college.

Other publications this year have also placed Wofford among the top liberal arts institutions.

  • Forbes ranked Wofford as the No. 45 institution of higher education in the South and the No. 1 private college in South Carolina.
  • U.S News & World Report ranked Wofford as the No. 62 best value school in the U.S. and the No. 67 national liberal arts college.
  • The Princeton Review named it one of The Best 391 Colleges and a Best Value College.
  • Niche ranked Wofford at No. 62 on its list of best liberal arts colleges in America.
  • “These rankings are evidence of the extraordinary work happening every day on Wofford’s campus,” Wofford President Nayef Samhat says. “They spotlight our commitment to excellence in academics, a strong student experience and creating successful graduates.”
