I can’t imagine a more exciting Interim and start to the spring semester. Our own Craig Melvin ’01 became anchor of the TODAY Show, and many of us traveled to New York City to celebrate Craig’s first day in his new role. Chandler Compton ’20, currently in India as the college’s first Fulbright Research Fellow, became the college’s first Schwarzman Scholar and will soon be extending his studies in Beijing, China. Finally, the college launched Between the Tolls, a career connection event. Alumni leaders in their fields came to the campus to network and advise about 100 Wofford students who chose to forgo the long weekend between Interim and spring semester to further their professional aspirations. Read more about these and other Wofford successes in this issue of Wofford Today.

In addition, the numbers are in, and the college experienced a record year in philanthropy and engagement, with increases in attendance at college events, financial contributors and gifts to support our students and the college’s mission and core values. Make sure to read the story about Scott Brewington ’87 and his gift in memory of Professor Emeritus Constance Armitage Antonsen.

In many ways it’s appropriate to begin the semester in such an auspicious way since Feb. 1 marked the 175th anniversary of the signing of Benjamin Wofford’s will. The promise of Wofford College has exceeded expectations, and as we move toward our demisemiseptcentennial, I invite you to find ways to become more involved in our college. Your contributions matter — whether on the national and international stage or to your favorite academic department, professor or team. Wofford needs you!
