Re: Campus Life & Student Development

The Division of Campus Life and Student Development has reorganized to better serve our students and college community. An exciting part of this plan is the designation of a “dean” for each class. That means each class will have a staff member designated to coordinate new programs and services designed to increase student success, retention and satisfaction in the Wofford experience.

Brian Lemere has accepted a position as associate dean for student development and dean of the junior class. Brian has more than 30 years experience in higher education and residence life and has directed Wofford’s residence life program for the past 16 years.

Allen Lollis ’15 accepted a promotion to assistant dean of students for residence life and dean of the sophomore class. Allen holds a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy and has worked with the college’s residence life program for six years. He is also a Title IX hearing officer and a search advocate and serves as chair of the college’s Staff Advisory Council.

Talicia Murphy has accepted a promotion to director of student activities and the Mungo Center. She is pursuing a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs. Since 2018 Talicia has enjoyed working with the college’s 80+ student organizations, college committees and student government to develop a robust campus life program. She also serves as a member of the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) team at Wofford.

John Blair, director of conference services, will work closely with the new residence life team. He holds a master’s degree in education and has years of teaching and coaching experience. His work is vital to organizing the logistics for all programs, meetings and conferences on campus.

Matthew Hammett is now serving as assistant dean of students for fraternity and sorority life and leadership programs as well as dean of the senior class. Matthew’scareer in student development spans over 16 years and covers a number of functional areas, including work with Title IX. As an institutional equity case coordinator, he is focused on increasing attention and awareness for sexual and gender-based misconduct. He holds a master’s degree in counselor education from Clemson University and will begin a doctorate of education program for professional leadership at Converse University in the fall.

Beth Wallace ’82, associate vice president, will continue to direct programs and services for first year students, including orientation. She also supervises the Wellness Center. Beth has served the college for 30 years, building a comprehensive wellness program for students and a medical program for employees.

We will be hiring a new assistant director for residence life, a director of inclusive engagement and coordinators for campus recreation, intramurals and club sports, residence life and student engagement.

These exciting changes will be reflected on our website soon with more information on our enhanced services for students.
