President Nayef Samhat presented an honorary doctor of humanities degree to Dr. John A. Roush, president emeritus of Centre College, during Wofford College’s opening convocation Thursday, Sept. 2, in the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. Roush spoke about the importance of resilience, perseverance and leadership. In his address, he quoted Abigail Adams, Helen Keller, Marc Twain and Jimmy Dugan, the fictional manager of the Rockford Peaches in the movie “A League of Their Own.”
