SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College will host a Fantasyland of activities Saturday, March 15, for disadvantaged children from several local service organizations.
The program will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on the lawn of Main Building, and is open to only those children invited from the Boys and Girls club, inner city churches, the Children’s Shelter, and other organizations. Last year, 350 children and parents participated in Fantasyland.
The goal of Fantasyland is to fully immerse local disadvantaged children in the magic and fantasy by recreating the experience of Disney World, a place they may never have the opportunity to visit.
The event will be staffed by on-campus organizations, including Twin Towers, Campus Union, Aramark food services, and the Wofford Department of Theatre. The event is funded by Campus Union.
Fantasyland is a project developed by Wofford student Kulsoom Haq and is a finalist for the Impact and Launch competition through The Space at Wofford College. In that competition, students vie for $10,000 in prizes in the form of in-kind services to help their projects.
