Faculty Description

Dr. Charlie Bass, Dr. and Mrs. Larry Hearn McCalla Professor of Chemistry, was included in the April 2012 edition of the Princeton Review's "The Best 300 Professors," which paid tribute to the dedication of America's undergraduate professors.

Like his mentor, retired Wofford professor Dr. John Pilley, Psychology professor Dr. Alliston Reid's true passion is working closely with students in the lab. He even started liking basketball once he and his students learned to teach rats to play one-on-one. In 2012 Dr. Reid was named the CASE South Carolina Professor of Year.

To prepare for life after graduation and outside of residence halls, Wofford’s senior class lives together in the award-winning Village. Each apartment is approximately 1200 square feet and includes four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and a full kitchen!

With rocking chairs provided as part of the furniture of most apartments, it's a common sight to see students enjoying each other's company on the many porches and balconies in the Village!

Right off the Grand Galleria in the Michael S. Brown Village Center is a well stocked market that allows students to take full advantage of the kitchen in their apartment—all without ever having to leave campus!

The newest addition to the Village is the Michael S. Brown Village Center. It houses the Mungo Center for Professional Excellence, classrooms, office space, a galleria, a dining center, and a market on the first floor and apartment style housing on the top two floors.

Having a full kitchen available allows students to get comfortable preparing their own meals on a regular basis. Plus, with the rest of their class living all around them, there's never a shortage of dinner companions!

Besides housing the senior class, the Village is home to a bocce ball court, a half basketball court, and a beach volleyball court. There are also several grilling areas and green spaces where you can play games or catch up on homework on a beautiful spring afternoon.
