Impact Stories: Omar Elmore '19

PhotoofOmarElmoreOmar Elmore ’19 knew what he wanted when he began the college search — a community and a place where he would feel like more than just a face in the crowd. He found exactly what he was looking for at Wofford.

“There’s something unique about living in the ‘Wofford bubble,’ where you recognize all the faces. You can speak to them as you walk to class, and you feel like you can sit down and eat with anyone on campus because they’re you’re friends,” says Elmore.

A recipient of the Richardson Family Scholarship, the highest honor awarded to an entering first-year student at the college, Elmore does not take for granted the gift that allows him to call Wofford home. “I’m very thankful to the Richardson family for giving me the opportunity to not only attend a great college, but to do so without financial burden.”

Taking full advantage of the opportunities given to him, Elmore serves as a delegate for Campus Union, a member of the Orientation Staff and a writer for both the Office of Marketing and Communications and the Old Gold and Black student newspaper.

“I’ve grown as a person. I’ve been able to find myself in and out of the classroom, during the regular school term and Interim. The Wofford experience as a whole allows for students to come in as one person and leave as a better version of themselves,” he says.
