Impact Stories: Chie Mushayamunda '18

PhotoofChieMushayamundaChie Mushayamunda ’18 says she appreciates the Wofford community and Wofford's ties with the greater Spartanburg community more and more each year.

“I have experienced community in a variety of ways at Wofford. From the energy of the men’s basketball SoCon Championship victory my freshman year, to the camaraderie I experience during Campus Union meetings I attend every Monday night, the list certainly goes on. Everyone here loves to see the next person succeed because it’s not simply about us, but rather, our Wofford family. Community, love and kindness are in our blood. It’s what makes us Terriers.”

As a recipient of the Bonner Scholarship Program Endowed Scholarship Fund, Mushayamunda volunteers at least 10 hours each week during the academic year and 280 hours per summer for two summers. Much of her volunteer work in the community has been spent working with the Butterfly Foundation, whose mission is to empower and transform the lives of economically challenged individuals and families into self-sufficient and self-confident citizens.

“Attending Wofford College has been an amazing educational opportunity for me. In my time here, I have learned an abundance of information, and I have gained skills that I will carry with me for the rest of my life,” she says.
