Paid Internship or Course Credit?

There are essentially two types of internships: those that offer payment and those that offer course credit.

Here's what you need to know: you can either be paid for your work or receive course credit, but you cannot receive both.

Contact Jennifer Dillenger, Director, The Space, at dillengerja@wofford.edu for more information about these internship options.

For Credit Internships:

The Space to Prepare: Career Services Apprenticeship Program (one credit hour)

If you find an internship and would like to receive credit for it:

  1. The internship may be completed at any time during the school year or summer break.
  2. The Space to: Prepare staff must approve the internship.
  3. The employer must provide a written letter confirming your internship placement before the internship begins. The employer must also provide a second letter confirming your satisfactory work after the internship ends.
  4. You may only complete two internships for credit under the Apprenticeship program while at Wofford.

2. The Richardson Summer Scholar program provides a small stipend ($1,500) to help support students who are working in unpaid internships. To apply, contact Jennifer Dillenger, Director, The Space, at dillengerja@wofford.edu

3. The Mike Brown Internship Program provides living expenses stipends for students working in paid or unpaid internships. To apply, contact Jennifer Dillenger, Director, The Space, at dillengerja@wofford.edu.
