Before you click that button...
We hope you've explored our website to learn about Impact, why its important and what to expect. We can't explain the program in a sentence or two - it's complicated, messy and...amazing.
But here are a few paragraphs that should help you make sense of it all. Take the time to read them. If you like what you read and think you'd be a good fit, then go ahead and click that big green button. We can't wait to hear from you!
Learn how to "Do Something"We are all about challenging the students in Impact to not only be outside-of-the-box revolutionary thinkers, but also expert doers. Students in Impact develop and implement great ideas or “things” in the form of projects each year. Through group meetings and trainings, we teach you our approach. Then you will actually DO SOMETHING, like
Daniel Didok '14,
Joseph McMillan '13,
Kulsoom Haq '15, and
Callie Taylor '14.
This "something" is up to you, but we will advise you in developing and implementing it.
Learn how to make an impact
Are you passionate about an idea, cause or goal? We'll help you develop it and make an impact where it matters to you and to those around you.
Our goal is to assemble a superb interdisciplinary team which will create elegant entrepreneurial designs in their projects that address important needs in the campus, local or global community with high impact and at scale. These experiences and projects create a unique mash-up of business, academics, creativity, and the big world beyond Wofford’s campus. Add in the community and collaboration with other Impact students, the fun we have while we work together and challenge each other out of our comfort zones, and you have the perfect recipe for success.
Learn how to think differently
Not only do you have the opportunity to make an impact in your community both locally and globally, but you will also make yourself more marketable for jobs after college. Companies want to hire graduates who have the confidence to surmount daunting problems, who can approach any problem from a fresh angle, and who have a proven track record of doing so. By the end of your Wofford career, you'll have a resume which demonstrates design thinking, innovation, project management, and creative problem solving (you'll THINK differently than you do now).
And get paid to do it
Impact isn’t a major or a class. It’s a unique program that will expose you to experiences most college’s don't offer. It requires hard work, passion, and follow-through. In exchange, we'll pay you (in scholarship dollars, that is!) $5,000 a year over the course of your membership.
If you are interested in becoming a part of this team, please
fill out the application. Your replies to the questions will be used to select members who will add to a complete, well-balanced skill set within the greater program.
If you feel like the questions we have asked don’t do justice to your personality or skills, supplement this application with visuals or supporting documents– resumes, cartoons, diagrams, sketches, photographs, or videos-- to tell us more about yourself. Instructions for sending supporting documents are included in the application.
