Montgomery Music Building

Music Building

Excellence in musical performance has been evolving at Wofford, reaching even further back than the memorable choral groups of Sam Moyer in the 1950s and Victor Bilanchone in the 1980s and 1990s.

In more recent times, the musical scene at Wofford has greatly expanded and improved. Now, almost 700 members of a student body of over 1,400 men and women take advantage of music education and performance opportunities.

In response to the growing number of students interested in studying music while attending college, Wofford has purchased the former Baptist Collegiate Ministry Building (located on North Church Street next to Ben Wofford Books, the campus bookstore) to provide a home for the Music Program with adequate rehearsal space, and classrooms for singers, musicians, and faculty. It is named for Walter and Betty Montgomery, Rose Montgomery Johnston and their families in honor of their leadership gift.

Goal: $1.8 million for renovations to the building
