Emily Anne Smith ('12)
Emily Anne ('12) hails from LaGrange, Georgia. When she arrived at Wofford, she dove right in to the Success Initiative, learning ASL at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind. Last spring, she joined forces with three other SI students to plan and produce an incredible fashion show fundraiser for SCSDB. This summer, Emily Anne left her home in LaGrange, travelling halfway around the world to India. There, she is being completely immersed in the local culture, which she finds fascinating. Of her experience, Emily Anne reports: "I've been to Hindu temples and participated in the puja; I've been to the jungle and went on a safari; I've seen some of the most beautiful beaches; I've had an ayurvedic massage, and I am leaving in a while to see an astrologist. Last night we had dinner at my boss's house and sat on the floor and ate with our hands right off of a banana leaf. It was awesome!" As a research intern at a publishing company, Emily Anne will also come away with valuable work experience. We here at Wofford anxiously await Emily Anne's return, and we are proud of her for going where she has never been before.
