Wofford's chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon was founded on October 16, 1885, by James C. Jeffries. It was granted the the 48th charter granted by the Fraternity, and it is currently the 33rd oldest active chapter. It has achieved the chapter of the year award in South Carolina for three straight years, and there are currently 76 active brothers.
