Senior Awards from SC Gamma

This year's SC Gamma senior class has continued the outstanding tradition of the chapter, winning numerous awards as its members near graduation on May 20th.  Two members of the pledge class were chosen for and participated in this year's Presidential Seminar with President Bernie Dunlap: Christopher Gillam and Josh Thompson.  Recently, four members of the pledge class, Gillam, Andrew Powell, Marc Sutton, and Thompson, were initiated into Wofford's presitigious Phi Beta Kappa chapter, recognizing their academic excellence.  At the annual Greek Awards Night held recently, Thompson was also named the Greek Man of the Year for his contributions to the Greek community during his four years at Wofford.  At this year's annual Honors Convocation, Gillam received both the Chemistry and Mathmatics departmental awards, Powell received the Finance department award, Sutton received the Spanish department award, and Thompson received the History department award.  Of the graduating class, Thompson will be attending U.S.C. School of Law, Evan Smith will attend MUSC Dental School, Rob Williams will attend U.S.C. Pharmacy School, Gillam will attend graduate school for mathematics at Clemson, Tim Beechem will attend a civil engineering graduate program at Clemson, Powell will teach English in China before attending law school, and others have applied for numerous graduate school programs and prestigious jobs.  We congratulate them for the example they have set for our undergraduate chapter and for upholding the traditions of our alumni!

SC Gamma 06-07 Wofford Awards

The 2006-2007 year can be considered a landmark year in the storied history of SC Gamma.  The Greek Awards were handed out and Sigma Alpha Epsilon's name was called for nearly every applicable award.  The chapter collected Wofford Chapter of the Year Honors and Highest Chapter GPA, 2 major chapter-wide awards handed out annually.  In addition, Josh Thompson '07 was awarded with Greek Male of the Year.  Those involved with SC Gamma over the 4 years he has been a brother surely cannot be surprised, as he has influenced nearly every facet of fraternity life as well as accumulating an impressive resume filled with positions on IFC and various other leadership roles in campus organizations.  He is also a recent member of Phi Beta Kappa.  The other individual award was presented to Matt Abee '10 for IFC New member of the year.  Matt was a member of the pledge class of 2006 and was proudly initiated in February 2007.  He serves the fraternity as Parliamentarian and was elected by the campus to serve on the cabinet for Campus Union in the position of Secretary.

SC Gamma Achieves Academic Excellence

The Chapter is proud to announce that the spring 2006 semester Grade Report for Wofford Greek Life has been released and we are on top again! SC Gamma not only achieved the highest semester average GPA and the highest new member class GPA, but the all Greek average has surpassed the all Wofford average for the first time since Greek GPA data tracking began at the the College in 1999! SC Gamma's GPA was a 3.29 with the next closest competitor being PKA with a 3.11. SC Gamma's 2005 Pledge Class recorded a 1st year GPA of a 3.14 with the next closest competitor once again being PKA with a 2.91 GPA. The all Greek average for the semester 3.17, edging out the all Wofford average of a 3.15 GPA. This is surely a giant step in putting to death the allegations that Greek Life participation is adverse to academic success at Wofford. Congratulations Brothers and all Wofford Greeks for your academic devotion and excellence this past semester!
