7:30-8:40 Breakfast
in Burwell
8:45-8:55 Olin Theater. Students sit with sections, check in with instructors
9:00-10:00 Classroom instruction- entire program
10:00-10:50 World Groups meet for Creative Group Time
10:50-11:00 Mid-morning break
11:00-12:10 Creative Group Time
12:10-12:50 Lunch
in Burwell Dining Hall
13:00-14:30 Creative Group Time
(focus on individual writing)
14:40-17:00 Activities with RAs
17:00-17:30 Students on halls with RAs
17:30-19:00 Dinner in Burwell Dining Hall
19:00-20:30 Creative Group Time (in World Groups led by TAs)
20:30-22:00 Social Time outdoors around Pavilion
22:00-23:00 Students on halls. Hall meetings
23:00 Lights out
Creative Group Time:
This is time when each group, the TA and the teacher get together to work on their world. It is important that each group have their own "space" and that they have some room to spread out and get their hands "dirty." Skills focused on: group work, creative problem-solving, individual problem-solving, individual creativity, one-on-one with instructor, and general assimilation and application of material learned during academic time.
Classroom Instruction:
This is time when students will be given instruction that they can directly apply to the building of their worlds. For instance, they will hear about history, religion, and science. All students will meet during this time for academic instruction. The exact nature of these periods will vary from lecture to laboratory experiment. Skills focused on: retention of knowledge, experiential learning, active listening, and inquiry.
Flexible Programming:
This is time that may include anything from experiential
learning activities to guest speakers.
Entertainment Activities:
This is time that features a range of activities including movie marathons, games,etc.
Special Programming:
This is time that focuses on extended activities.
