Dr. Philip Swicegood teaches Finance at Wofford College. Philip is a Fulbright Scholar (to the University of Split in Croatia) and was recently appointed as the R. Michael James Family Professor of Finance at Wofford. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Florida State University, an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas-Austin, and a B.S. degree in Finance and Philosophy from Liberty University. Philip founded and directs The Broad River Group LLC, a real estate investment firm. He has worked in the banking industry as an analyst for the United States Treasury Department, and has served as a business consultant and expert witness for companies all over the world. In addition to teaching, Philip has published widely in multiple finance journals, and he conducts finance seminars for HighMark Inc., a non-profit consulting firm that provides business training in developing countries. Philip and his wife Cindy have two children, Stephanie and Susanna. They are active in service and community at Broad River Community Church, a non-denominational church in Boiling Springs, NC. When not engaged with the three ladies of his life, Philip enjoys fly fishing, reading, ultimate frisbee, and making ridiculously hard tests for his students.
