Tips for a Successful Registration

Prior to Registration

  • You can view your advising PIN and registration time through myWofford, under the Student tab in the window labelled ‘View my Advising PIN.’ Your advisor has to release your PIN. If you cannot view your PIN, contact your advisor ASAP.
  • You need to do some preemptive checking. Make sure your password works, verify that you do not have any holds, etc. If your myWofford password is not working you need to contact the Help Desk now and get that addressed. You may find you have an active hold from that parking ticket you never paid. Holds need to be resolved with the office that placed them. You can go into BannerWeb through myWofford at any time and check your Registration Status to be sure you are clear to register. 
  • If you are not going to use AirTerrier or a wired connection on campus, you should test your connection prior to your registration time. To ensure that you can successfully access BannerWeb when the time comes, login to myWofford using the same computer/tablet with the same network on which you plan to use ahead of time. Do not chance accessing Wi-Fi at Starbucks with five minutes to spare if you have never done so before. Some Wi-Fi networks have firewalls that will block your access to myWofford/BannerWeb. 
  • If using AirTerrier, put yourself in a place where you have a good signal. Is the Wi-Fi better in the common area of your apartment? If you’re willing to get up early and venture out, take your laptop to Burwell for Wi-Fi and pancakes. Go to Campus Life and use a kiosk computer. There are 24 computers available in Olin 212 which will be open by 7:10AM on mornings of registration.


When Registration Opens

  • Log in early! Get into BannerWeb with several minutes to spare. Don’t wait till the last minute and risk running into a problem.
  • You can have one and only one myWofford/BannerWeb session at a time. Attempting to register with multiple devices will cause your active session to be terminated when you move from one to another. And you're just creating unnecessary web traffic for everyone else. Use a single device that you feel is reliable.
  • myWofford is the front door to a house of web applications (email, Moodle, BannerWeb). Naturally, when everyone is trying to squeeze into BannerWeb’s room, things may move a little slower. If you click the BannerWeb link and the page goes blank for a few seconds, do not panic and start clicking stop/back/forward in your browser. Be patient. You can break the transfer from myWofford to BannerWeb by randomly clicking your browser options. This is what causes the User ID and PIN prompt some of you have experienced.
  • IF you see the User ID and PIN prompt, the worst thing you can do is to enter anything. This is not a prompt for your advising PIN. You do not know this information and attempting to enter it will lock your BannerWeb account. If you receive this prompt you need to close your browser and start over with myWofford. 
  • Keep exercising patience once you gain access to BannerWeb. The server’s clock is synced with www.time.gov. Instead of feverishly clicking the Submit button to see if your registration window has opened, just keep your eye on the official time and click once. You may get a blank page for a few seconds, but, again, do not panic. You could be just a nanosecond away from being registered, but if you click stop/back you will lose your place in line.

  • Remember to enter BOTH CRNs for courses with labs. The lecture and lab sections are linked in the system. It will not add one without the other.
  • The Help Desk will be staffed early during registration week to help you with any access issues (help@wofford.edu or x4357). The Registrar’s Office will also be available at registrar@wofford.edu.
