Senior Circuit...Anndel Williams

Anndel Williams is fanndel195rom Isle of Palms, S.C. Located just a few minutes away from downtown Charleston, her hometown is famous for its beach. There are several colleges in Charleston, but Wofford won Williams over, eventually.

“I decided to come to Wofford somewhat last minute. My heart was set on another college, but after being waitlisted, I decided that I needed to make a different decision. I had forgotten that I had applied to Wofford until I got my acceptance letter! I came and visited a family friend who was a freshman, and I fell in love with Wofford and have been happy about my decision ever since.”

Williams has been very involved in her sorority, Kappa Delta. She has served on the council as the Panhellenic delegate, working with other sororities on campus, organizing events on campus and in the community.

Academically she has been very fortunate in that she knew what she wanted before she even got to Wofford and her course has remained steady since.

Although it seems like a random major to choose, I based my decision solely on how much I enjoy it. Instead of going through college and majoring in Business Economics or Finance, I decided to enjoy what I study and to continue with my studies of art history. I think it's one of the best decisions I've made in college. It's a smaller department and I've formed great relationships with both of the professors (Dr. Karen Goodchild and Dr. Peter Schmunk) and my respect and interest in the subject has only grown.”

It was one of Schmunk’s classes that Williams singles out as her favorite so far.

“The best class I've ever taken was a Baroque and Rococco Art History class with Dr. Schmunk during the fall semester of my sophomore year,” she says. “It was the most interesting class I've had mainly because it dealt with my favorite period in art history and it proved to be even more beneficial when I studied in Rome last spring and saw all of the architecture and paintings that I had studied!”
