Senior Circuit...Harley LittletonHarley Littleton has Spartanburg in her blood. A graduate of Dorman High School, she didn’t even have to change streets when choosing a college.
“I was born and raised in Spartanburg,” says Littleton. “I chose Wofford because I knew that I wanted to stay in the south and be an attorney. Wofford has the reputation of being a great undergraduate school for people who wanted to go to law school, and when I visited the campus, I fell in love with the people and the small school atmosphere.”
It didn’t take her long to get involved on campus.
“I am a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority,” she says. “I served as the secretary and the vice president of finance. My second year at Wofford I served as an appointed member of the judicial commission, and as a judicial commissioner I also served as Public Defender. I was one of two members of the judicial commission appointed to serve on the traffic commission.
“Going into this year I was again appointed to the judicial commission, but resigned to accept the attorney general position. As attorney general I was responsible for prosecuting students charged with various violations of the code of student rights and responsibilities. Recently I was part of the committee that met to evaluate the college's alcohol and drug policy and make recommendations for changes to the current policy.”
Littleton is a government major with concentrations in political thought and American politics. After her first government class with Dr. Jeffery (first semester, freshman year), she knew she had chosen the right major.
“This summer I will intern at the SC Seventh Judicial Circuit Solicitor's Office,” she says. “This will be the fourth summer I will have had the privilege of interning in Solicitor Gowdy's office. This fall I will be attending the University of South Carolina School of Law. Three years from now I hope to be starting to work as a prosecuting attorney in South Carolina.”
With so much to look forward to, she reflected on the last three years...one moment in particular.
“One of my favorite memories from my time at Wofford was going to Pi Kappa Phi's Rose Ball in Savannah, Ga., on St. Patrick's Day weekend,” says Littleton. “It was so exciting to be in Savannah that particular weekend, and I got to spend it with some of my best friends from Wofford.”
