Senior Circuit...Nelson SeabrookNelson Seabrook was attending boarding school in Virginia when deciding where to attend college. He wanted a liberal arts education close to home (Columbia, S.C.), but he also wanted to see the world. He achieved both objectives at Wofford College.
“I chose to come to Wofford for a few reasons,” he says. “One, my father is an alumnus and I had heard many of his great stories about the college. Two, after the experience in Virginia I knew I wanted to be a little closer to home. Three, I felt as those I learned best in smaller class sizes and wanted a liberal arts education. Wofford was the obvious choice.”
Little did he know at the time that his decision would lead to scuba diving in Bonaire, fly fishing in the Bahamas, and time spent observing Namibia, Botswana and even Antarctica (see picture). And all in the pursuit of a biology degree.
“I’ve been a biology major since I enrolled,” he says. “The best memories I have had are the Interim classes I have taken every January. Seeing Antarctica this year was amazing.”
Seabrook has been busy in Spartanburg, too.
“I have been active in my fraternity, Kappa Alpha Order, serving as an officer for two years,” he says. “I was one of the vice presidents of the Inter Fraternity Council and I currently preside as Chair of the Judicial Commission.”
When he graduates next month, Seabrook will have a new world to explore, that of medicine.
“I plan to attend medical school,” he says. “Currently, I am waiting to hear back from MUSC and USC School of Medicine.”
