Senior Circuit...Marcus Jackson

Raised by his aunt inmarc200 Spartanburg, S.C., Marcus Jackson was the leading scorer on the Dorman High School basketball team. He came to Wofford because of its proximity, its basketball team and its academic reputation.

Jackson may not have been the star player at Wofford, but he did serve a valuable role. A captain during his senior campaign, he started one game for the Terriers. He hit a three pointer, his only points of the season, with just 21 seconds remaining in Wofford’s final home game versus Furman.

Jackson scored 28 points as a junior before a shoulder injury derailed his season. That year he hit a late three-pointer against a Davidson team that went all the way to the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament. As a sophomore he made a three-pointer against the University of Michigan.

Academically, he majors in business economics and is a Bonner Scholar. Bonner Scholars do work in the community, including aiding children, the elderly, the disabled and the generally disadvantaged.

He has big plans for life after Wofford.

“I plan on going back to school for a Masters degree in communication,” he says. “I hope to work with ESPN one day.”

He says his best memory of the past four years came during that regular season finale versus Furman.

“My best moment was on Senior Night against Furman,” says Jackson. “Matt Estep hit a full court shot at the buzzer right after I hit a three. Those were the last two baskets of our careers.”
