Senior Circuit...Brent Troxell

If you’re traveling from Boiling Springs, S.C., to Wofford College, forget Google and Mapquest and just call Brent Troxell. The senior knows the trip from his hometown to his home of the past four years like the back of his hand.

trox200“It’s about 12 minutes away, depending on the stop lights and how well the people in front of me navigate the Hearon traffic circle,” he laughs.

Troxell almost took a detour four years ago, but the former Campus Union president is glad he didn’t.

“I must sadly admit that the only other school I was considering attending was Furman,” he says. “Wofford offered me better financial aid and I have never looked back since. It's been a great experience and I loathe Furman unmercifully.”

While purple didn’t suit Troxell, old gold and black most certainly has.

“I participated in South Carolina Student Legislature, College Republicans, and most recently the Blue Key Honor Society,” says Troxell of his time at Wofford. “My greatest passion has been Campus Union - the student government of Wofford College. I started out as a freshmen delegate, then served on the Wofford Activities Council before being elected student body treasurer and president. It has been an amazing experience that I would never give back and I think it made me love Wofford even more.”

Academically, Troxell is an economics major with a government minor.

“I started out with a government major and dabbled in or thought about pretty much every other department except for the sciences, of course,” he says. “I realized I didn't want to teach or go to law school, so I switched to economics, which I love, but I wouldn't mind having another year or two to take many more classes I didn't get the chance to take.”

So what does the future hold?

“Hopefully a lot,” says Troxell. “I'm really excited about what's in front of me even though I have no idea what it is. I'm ready to work hard and put all that Wofford has taught me to good use. How that is going to happen, I do not yet have figured out. But for now my life plans are to get a job, go back to school, travel, enjoy life, and have a family in whatever order those come.”

Troxell still has two months of college to enjoy before worrying about all of that.

“My senior year has been one big blur of great times,” he says. As odd as it sounds, I had a blast helping move in 400 new students last fall. My best memory would probably be orientation this year. I was on O staff and it was a great chance for me to get to know other students on the staff who were already my friends, but are now some of my best friends. I also loved telling the freshmen about Wofford and being a part of the first week they had on campus.”
