Senior Circuit...Meagan Lankford

John Cougar Mellencamp once sang…

Well I was born in a small town
And I live in a small town
meag200
Prob’ly die in a small town
Oh, those small communities

Wofford senior Meagan Lankford can relate. Growing up in Perryville, Ky., a town of less than 800 people, she was looking for a college and a college town in which she would feel comfortable.

“There's a great school, Centre College, about 10 minutes from where I live that's similar to Wofford, and I knew I wanted to go to a place like Centre,” says Lankford. “After an exhausting week-long tour of some of the best colleges in the Southeast…places like Davidson, Wake Forest, Duke, Elon and Furman…my last stop proved to be the best. It's the same story everyone has heard a thousand times: after about 10 minutes, it was a done deal. I knew Wofford was exactly where I wanted to be.”

Lankford and Wofford have been a fit from the beginning. She has been involved with Zeta Tau Alpha, Sigma Delta Pi, Order of Omega, Blue Key Honor Society, Wofford Ambassadors, Wofford Starts, and Wofford Singers. Academically, she has taken the Whitman’s Sampler approach.

“I'm pretty sure I've exhausted about every major Wofford offers, even if it was only for a day,” laughs Lankford. “There was psychology, English, business economics, intercultural studies for vusiness, economics, and…for about 24 hours…biology. I ended up choosing the two I found most interesting, religion and Spanish. I love them.”

She hasn’t figured out what she’s going to do post-Wofford yet, but it may include graduate school, probably in religious studies. She’s also considering traveling, learning more Arabic, and “anything and everything.”

Asked what her best memory at Wofford has been, she gave the response that suggests a fun four years.

“There have been too many to count,” she says.
