Senior Circuit...Elizabeth LaManceElizabeth LaMance grew up about 40 miles southwest of Atlanta in Newnan, Ga. Wofford may not be a household name there, but thankfully it is mentioned in other buildings.
“A friend from church who had just graduated from Wofford told me that it was the place for me, so I came to visit and just fell in love!” recalls LaMance.
LaMance took to the Wofford community right away, joining Campus Union (where she received the William Light Kinney award), the Wofford Singers and Kappa Alpha Theta as a freshman. She became part of the Service Learning Community as a sophomore, studied abroad in Nantes, France for half her junior year and this year is currently president of the Pre-Law Society.
She has also been very involved in volunteering. LaMance will be dressed as a tooth fairy to raise money for Healthy Smiles of Spartanburg. She also volunteered at the Valentinis and Tapas event on Valentine’s Day to raise money for the Ellen Hines Smith Girls’ Home.
Academically, she has been just as busy.
“I am double majoring in Government and French, and it has not changed although I decided for one year that I wanted to go to medical school,” says LaMance. “I made that decision while studying abroad in France because I wanted to become a pediatrician. I still like the idea, and I may return to it one day, but not for now. My problem is that I'm interested in too many things!”
She says that law school is likely after she graduates in May, but not set in stone. She’ll leave Wofford with enough memories to share with everyone back in Newnan.
“Some of my favorite memories are of spending time with friends, whether going out to dinner or staying in to watch a girly movie,” says LaMance. “I especially love Interim here. My sophomore year I visited Belgium, France, and Switzerland and had the time of my life. This year as part of a pre-law internship I met a whole army of Wofford graduates around Spartanburg, Columbia, and Charleston who are part of the legal profession. I am convinced that Wofford is truly a special place, and I will always cherish my memories here.”
