Senior Circuit...Cori GriffinSenior Cori Griffin hails from North Augusta, S.C., and through Wofford she is pursuing a different kind of Masters.
“I knew two or three other students from my high school who were going to Wofford, but wasn’t very interested in coming here until I visited the campus,” says Griffin. “After my first visit, though, something about walking around the campus made me realize that this was the college I wanted to attend. Also, study abroad was a key interest of mine and after talking with the Spanish teachers and study abroad staff, I realized what amazing opportunities and programs Wofford offers.”
Griffin has been so enamored with the possibilities, she had trouble picking a single major. Currently she is going for a double major in accounting and Spanish.
“My major has frequently changed,” she says. “I always knew I wanted to major in Spanish but I have changed from being a chemistry major to business economics to accounting during my first three years at Wofford. I liked all these subjects. It was difficult to choose!”
On top of all that, she has been active in the Wofford community.
“I am involved in Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and APO service fraternity,” she says. “I am also a volunteer at Arcadia through the Spanish department, as well as part of the Middlebury/Wofford connection.”
She says her favorite moments have been times spent with the friends she has made along the way.
“These moments always put a smile on my face,” says Griffin. “They include anything from last minute road trips to night Frisbee games, walking in the snow to Papa’s for breakfast, movie nights, hiking trips, and Interim.”
The weeks at Wofford are dwindling, and true to form she has a busy schedule ahead.
“I have lots of plans,” she says. “I just don’t know which ones to choose! I have applied to a lot of MACC programs to get my masters degree in accounting and have a lot of different schools to choose from. I have also applied to a few Schools of International Business so that I may continue to improve my Spanish while I get my business degree. I also want to go abroad for a year or study to study business but I don’t know if I will be doing this through an independent program, a MACC program, or on my own.”
