Senior Circuit...Carrie Boggs

Academia is a huge part of Carrie Boggs’ family life. College degrees run rampant in the household, and more than one family member is currently employed by an cboggs200institute of higher learning. So it should come as no surprise why the Spartanburg native chose to attend Wofford College.

“I chose it because it was close to home,” she says, “but also because of its academic reputation.”

Boggs has been a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, where twice she served as a chapter officer. She is an active part of the Newman Club, which serves as the Catholic student organization on campus, fostering spiritual, social and academic growth. And she has been a student assistant in the Sandor Teszler Library since her sophomore year.

Some students pick a major early on only to find that it doesn’t quite suit them once they try it out. Boggs considers herself fortunate that she isn’t one of those students.

“I’m an art history major,” she says. “That has never changed.”

She recently returned from a semester abroad in England, where her major allowed her to see and do some extraordinary things.

“I studied in London for three and a half months taking classes such as Pre-Raphaelite Art and Architecture of London,” says Boggs. “I also had a great opportunity to be an intern at the Royal Academy of Arts. I worked in the Press Office organizing press days for new exhibitions. My internship was definitely one of my highlights and most cherished memory. While I was studying in London, I got the opportunity to go to Belgium, Paris, and Dublin, too.”

Now that she’s back, the post Wofford future is on the horizon.

“I am applying for summer art internships in Columbia, S.C., and Washington D.C.,” she says. “I plan to attend grad school next year.”
